The requirement for people in Wales to “stay local” is set to be lifted from Monday, with the First Minister for Wales due to make a formal announcement later today.

North.Wales understands Mark Drakeford will confirm that the Welsh Government is to introduce changes to the coronavirus regulations to enable families to be reunited once again.

Speaking at a press conference at 12.30pm, he will explain how people from two separate households will be able to join together to form one exclusive extended household from Monday.

The First Minister is expected to say that, while some restrictions are being eased in Wales, everyone needs to continue to maintain social distancing and respect the places and communities they visit.

We will be providing further updates on this development following the media briefing.
