Police have issued a warning after a group of children on off-road bikes caused problems on an industrial estate.

Officers were called yesterday to reports the youngsters were riding trial bikes in the middle of the road in Llandegai, Bangor.

When an officer attended, he came across the group wearing no helmets and riding in the road.

Most of them managed to get away, however the officer managed to seize one bike and took the 12-year-old rider home to speak to his parents.

Police said: “Regardless what you class as ‘fun’ – the industrial estate (which is busy with moving traffic such as HGVs, vans and other vehicles throughout the day) is NOT the place for a child to be riding their trial/off road bike.

“Whilst the officer was there a HGV driver approached him to say one of the children almost collided with his vehicle…

“We urge all parents/carers to know where their children are and where they go to use these bikes.

“The last thing we want is to be knocking on people’s doors to deliver bad news. Patrols of the area will continue.”
