Man arrested after person spotted with gun at Bangor pub

North Wales news and information

A man has been arrested after reports of a person being spotted in possession of a gun at a pub in Bangor.

Police attended The Castle in Glanrafon shortly after 7pm on Sunday (June 9th) after being contacted by members of the public.

A local man, aged 50, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, and an air weapon was seized.

Acting inspector Andy Davies said: “I’d like to thank members of the community for their support and understanding whilst there was a police presence in the Bangor city centre yesterday evening.

“This understandably caused some concern amongst residents however I would reassure the public that this was an isolated incident involving an imitation firearm and there are no ongoing concerns for the community.

“There will be high visibility patrols in the area today for reassurance purposes.”
