Almost 20 new homes could be created in village near Mold

NEW plans have been unveiled which could see almost 20 new homes created in a village near Mold.
Developers have put forward proposals to Flintshire Council to build on land at Mountain Road in Cilcain.
The site is in the centre of the village with the outlined access road sitting opposite St Mary’s Church.
If approved, it would result in the construction of 18 properties, a third of which would be allocated as affordable housing.
Chester-based company the Cilcain Homes Partnership is behind the application and claimed there was a demand for extra accommodation in the area.
In a planning statement, they said: “The proposal highlights how this development has made use of a previously undeveloped site in the centre of Cilcain to provide an attractive scheme which enhances the character and appearance of the surrounding area.
“This proposed development will create the much-needed additional homes within this small village whilst not adding to the urban sprawl or encroachment into the surrounding green belt.
“Furthermore, the provision of good quality housing will provide occupants with a desirable place to live whilst improving their health and wellbeing.
“Moreover, the development will provide much needed additional land to Cilcain cemetery.
“Having taken into consideration the views of the local community the design proposals have evolved and now form a more generic design encompassing the traditional village layout as opposed to a standardized housing development layout.”
They added the plans would also result in the creation of a footpath linked to the village hall to ensure the next door plot of land can still host the annual Cilcain Show.
Comments are currently being invited on the proposals via Flintshire Council’s website.
The local authority is aiming to decide on the application by the end of December.
