Covid outbreak at Ysbty Glan Clwyd declared over by health officials

A Covid outbreak at one of our general hospitals has been declared over.

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd had been under a tighter visiting regime while it dealt with community and hospital acquired infections.

However the site’s senior management team has declared the outbreak finished, after a period of decline in the number and nature of Covid transmissions.

While the move was welcomed by the board’s executive director of nursing Gill Harris, she warned the news doesn’t mean it is time to relax.

She said: “While it is good news the outbreak has been declared over, we still need to guard against potential Covid infections.

“There will still be restrictions to visitors to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff. This means one named visitor with risk assessments on an individual basis.

“While we understand this will be difficult for family members it is vital we ensure our sites are safe for all who use them.

“I would like to personally thank the public for supporting us in this and would urge them to continue to observe Covid safe guidelines when using our hospitals.

“Please remember to wear a mask, keep hands cleansed regularly and observe social distancing while on our sites.

“Also, please do not visit the hospital if you are displaying any symptoms of the infection.”
