Anglesey Airport – more information from North.Wales

North Wales news and information

Anglesey Airport provides a convenient way to reach the island from mainland Wales. For those wanting to travel to the island without driving, flying can often be the next best option.

Where is it?

The airport is located at RAF Valley, Holyhead, over to the west of the island. The postcode for those using satnav to get there by car is LL65 3NX.

How can you get there?

It depends on where you are coming from. If you are driving to the airport from the west side of the island, you can use the North Wales Expressway to reach it. The same road can be used from the east, turning off onto Minffordd Road to reach the airport entrance. If travelling from the north of the island, aim for the B5109 before taking the London Road down to the roundabouts that lead onto Minffordd Road.

Of course, if you fly into the airport to get to Anglesey, you’ll need those directions when returning for your flight home.

Connections with Anglesey Airport

Flybe provides flights to and from Anglesey Airport. Flights are offered from Cardiff Airport to Anglesey and take around 55 minutes. There are 10 flights offered on a weekly basis, with AM and PM flights on Mondays to Thursdays, an extra morning flight on Fridays, and a slightly earlier PM flight on a Friday.

You can search for the latest prices on the internet to ensure you get the best ticket price for your journey. It is advisable to book well in advance due to the limited flights per week. Full booking details and information on cabin baggage and other luggage can be found on the Flybe website.

Things you should know before flying

You cannot hire a car to take you anywhere in Anglesey when you get to the airport. This means you must book your car hire at the same time as booking your flights. It is often possible to arrange a meet and greet service, where the car service meets you at the airport and takes you to your destination. Alternatively, you can pre-arrange a cab on the island to take you wherever you wish to go. They will meet you on arrival.

Public transport is another option, as a bus service connects Valley train station with the airport. Trains from there take you to various popular places on the island.
