An investigation is underway following a fatal road traffic collision in Llandudno last night (Thursday, 29 October).

At 10.31pm emergency services received a report of a collision involving a black motorcycle on Marine Drive, approximately one mile from the Toll House towards the direction of the Great Orme summit.

As a result of the collision, the male motorcyclist, entered the sea below the Great Orme.

A multi-agency response involving North Wales Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI was launched.

The casualty was recovered from the water and airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced deceased.

His next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

Sergeant Alun Jones is appealing for witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation.

He said: “Sadly, this is now being investigated as a fatal road traffic collision, and our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who was travelling or walking along Marine Drive on the evening of Thursday 29 October, to contact us.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling from the Toll House towards the Great Orme summit between 10:00pm and 10:30pm and who may have dashcam footage.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could assist with our investigation.”
