Planning Application Submitted for Hair and Beauty Training Facility in Corwen

A planning application has been submitted to convert a former residential flat into a new hair and beauty training facility in Corwen.
Applicant Mrs Geraldine Ireland, of Dinmael Lodge, Dinmael, has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking a change of use for the first floor of 1 London Road.
If approved, the first-floor space above the ‘Haircare’ premises will be transformed into a theory and training classroom, staff room, and associated facilities to support the Wishart Hair & Beauty Academy.
A planning statement said: “The proposal is for the change of use of the existing first-floor residential flat above the ground-floor premises from residential use to hair and beauty training/education use associated with Wishart Hair & Beauty Academy.
“The first floor will provide a small theory and training classroom together with a staff room and associated facilities to support the academy. The training area will be used for classroom-based learning and practical hair and beauty education.”
It added: “The existing kitchen area will be used as a staff room. No extension to the building or significant external alterations are proposed. Access to the first floor will remain via the existing access to the property.”
If permitted, the training academy plans to employ one full-time and one part-time member of staff.
Proposed opening hours for the training facility are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, remaining closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
The planning application will now be considered by Denbighshire County Council’s planning officers and committee at a future date.
