Wild rabbits killed in suspected shooting by poachers in Conwy

North Wales news and information

Police are appealing for information after wild rabbits were found shot in Conwy.

The wild animals were killed near Bryn Seiri Farm at some stage over the last few weeks.

It is believed poachers have been entering private land close to residential areas to shoot rabbits at night.

PC Ian Nicholls said: “Trespass on land at night to take or destroy a rabbit is contrary to Section 1 of the Night Poaching Act 1828 and could lead to a maximum of 51 weeks imprisonment and or a fine.

“There are many public footpaths in the area and inappropriate use of a firearm so close to residential areas could endanger the public.

“We are increasing patrols during the day and night in the area as a result.

“I am asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact us at the earliest opportunity, quoting reference number 24000238533.”
