Two people have been seriously injured following a crash near Criccieth last night.

At approximately 10.45pm, a two-vehicle collision occurred on the A497 between Pentrefelin and Criccieth, near to the Plymouth Farm Caravan Park, involving a white coloured BMW X6 and a blue coloured Volvo S40.

The woman driving the BMW and the man driving the Volvo received serious injuries and were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by ambulance.

Sergeant Jason Diamond from the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “The BMW was travelling from the direction of Porthmadog and the Volvo was travelling in the opposite direction, so I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision or who may have been travelling along the A497 just prior to the collision and who has dash cam footage to contact us.

“The road was closed for the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to carry out their initial investigation and we’d like to thank motorists for their cooperation and understanding.”

The road re-opened shortly before 7:30am.

Anybody with information is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the North Wales Police website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 21000541231.
