Two men were jailed yesterday following the discovery of a £1m cannabis factory on Bangor High Street.

Elidon Hodaj, 27, was charged with producing controlled Class B drugs and was sentenced to two years and two months imprisonment.

Landi Ruci, 32, was also charged with producing controlled Class B drugs and was sentenced to two years imprisonment. They will both be deported following their sentences.

The two men appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court after a warrant was executed by police on January 29th which resulted in the discovery of a cannabis factory being operated on an industrial scale, spanning across four floors.

The men were found to be growing over 2,000 plants and cuttings, with an estimated resale value of over £1m. Further to this, £20,000 worth of lighting had been used to power the operation.

Detective Inspector Richard Griffith said: “We continue to target individuals who seek to bring drugs into the communities of Gwynedd.

“I’d like to reassure all those who reside and work in Bangor that we listen and respond to all information and concerns around suspected cannabis farms in the area.

“If you see, hear or smell any of the tell-tale signs, come forward directly or anonymously and we will investigate reports thoroughly.

If you have any information about drugs in your area, contact North Wales Police via the force’s website, by calling 101 or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
