A teenage girl has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted in a row over trainers.

North Wales Police attended a disturbance on Coed Pella Road in Colwyn Bay yesterday where two females were arguing over the ownership of the footwear.

One of the officers was punched and bitten and a 17-year- old girl was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker as a result.

Inspector Dafydd Curry said: “At this time we need to do all we can to keep our police in work. This was a totally unnecessary and disgusting assault.”

Police have reinforced their message for people to stay at home so emergency services can focus on priority tasks.
