Rhyl Coastguard called to eight incidents in one day including missing child and people stuck on sandbanks

The Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team attended eight separate incidents yesterday as the busy summer season continued for emergency services across North Wales.

The call outs included a six-year-old in Rhyl who was later found two miles away from where they were last seen.

They were also called to help people stuck on sandbanks, as well as regarding an inflatable which had drifted out to sea.

The majority of the incidents took place in the afternoon with the Rhyl RNLI also assisting.

The full list as detailed by team members is as follows:

  • 15:04 – Inflatable Drifting Out, Rhyl
  • 16:00 – Reports of persons in water, Rhyl
  • 16:10 – Missing Persons last seen on Beach, Rhyl
  • 16:20 – Missing Persons last seen in water, Rhyl
  • 16:42 – Missing 6 yr old, located 2 miles from place last seen, Rhyl
  • 17:15 – Persons cut off, Kinmel Bay
  • 17:30 – Persons on sandbanks, Rhyl
  • 19:59 – Report of dinghy blowing out off Kinmel Bay, 2 persons on board. RNLI Rhyl also tasked. On scene, dinghy was actually a RIB with two persons fishing and not in any difficulty.
