Police sound security warning after spate of farm gate thefts on Anglesey

Police have issued security advice after several gates were stolen from farms on Anglesey.

The North Wales Police Rural Crime Team said it had received a number of recent reports of thefts from farms on the island.

Officers have urged farmers to take measures to secure their premises.

Posting on Facebook, they said: “We have received reports of theft of farm gates on Anglesey. There may be steps you can take to prevent your gates being stolen.

  • Weld a plate to the top of the gate hinges to prevent them from being lifted easily
  • Use hinge locks to prevent the gates being lifted
  • Mark the gates to make them distinctive with paint or identifying marks
  • Join local farm watch groups and community alerts scheme
