Police have slammed a driver who was caught speeding on the A55 as they rushed to catch a ferry.

The speeder, who was travelling in a white BMW,  was caught doing 85mph in the 50mph zone in Colwyn Bay last night.

Officers posted a picture of the vehicle and the reading from their speedometer on Facebook today accompanied with some sage advice for the culprit.

They said: “If you don’t want to miss the ferry you need to plan your journey better and leave a bit earlier, nor try and get away with driving at 85mph in a 50mph zone on the A55 through Colwyn Bay. Caught red handed last night.”
