Police have dismissed reports of a man deliberately spreading the coronavirus at supermarkets in Bangor.

It follows rumours being spread on Facebook that someone had gone into both Asda and Morrisons branches in the city declaring that they had tested positive for COVID-19 and wanted to infect others.

The original post has been shared more than 100 times, but officers have paid a visit to both stores and said the reports were no accurate.

North Wales Police said: “Contrary to reports online, officers have attended Asda & Morrisons in Bangor.

“They have found no reports or truth in persons spreading covid-19 purposely and as such there is no increased risk to the public.”
