A man has been charged with drug offences following a series of raids in Denbighshire yesterday.

It comes after police executed search warrants at addresses in Rhyl and Henllan.

Christopher Roper, 29, has now been charged with offences of possession with intent to supply and production of Class B drugs. He has been remanded to appear in court.

Two other men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries, and a woman was also arrested for possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Police have made clear that they will continue to target those involved in trading drugs, while their actions have been praised by local politicians.

Insp James Keene said: “We want to reassure the community that we are taking positive action.

“By conducting these warrants our aim is to cause disruption to the trade in illegal drugs across the area and the associated violence.”

Rhyl West Councillor Joan Butterfield said: “I would like to thank the police for actions taken across the coastal belt. It must be a comfort to the residents of Rhyl and of course other areas, that at this testing time the police are being so active and making a positive difference to the problem we have with drugs.

“What a difference it makes to know we have the neighbourhood policing team working in our communities with such positive results.”

Ann Jones, AM, said: “I am pleased to see a successful execution of a warrant that will see drugs being removed from the streets in our communities.

“The work that North Wales Police are doing on this as well as the additional work from the pandemic is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of all in North Wales Police.”

James Davies, MP, added: “I commend Sgt Mark Jones and the Neighbourhood Policing Team for their work in tackling the scourge of illegal drugs in Rhyl, particularly during the difficult circumstances of the pandemic.”
