A man from North Wales has been jailed for around half a year after spitting at a police officer and breaching coronavirus regulations.

Steven Paul Johnson, 48, has today been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison for assaulting an emergency worker, flouting COVID-19 rules and breach of a criminal behaviour order.

Det. Sgt Chris Hargrave said: “We will continue to ensure the safety of our community from the persistent, unacceptable behaviour of a small minority.

“This sentence sends a clear message that repeated anti social behaviour will not be tolerated. Neither will disgusting and unnecessary attacks upon our officers at a time of heightened health concerns.”
