A TV critic has branded a North Wales MP’s question to the Prime Minister the ‘worst ever’.

Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies appeared on the order list for Prime Minister Question’s yesterday lunchtime as part of the regular 30 minute slot, which was the first chance for MPs since July 15th.

Dr Davies used his opportunity to ask, “One positive among the gloom of the COVID pandemic is that this year’s I’m A Celebrity will be filmed, not in New South Wales Australia, but in our own North Wales.”

“Even if I cannot tempt the Prime Minister to take part in a Welsh tucker trial, would he commend ITV on its choice of venue, and welcome the positive impact this can have on the regional economy?”

Prime Minister Johnson did not commend ITV specifically, rather recounting his 1997 election campaign in Clwyd South where he stood to be MP but lost by 13,810 votes.

Prime Minister Johnson said, “I thank my honourable friend and he’s right to draw attention to the wonderful attractions of North Wales, which I know very well myself when I tried to get elected there many years ago, unsuccessfully.

“But I congratulate him on his success and may it long be repeated.”

The question received widespread scorn on social media, with one clip of the video having several thousand likes to branding it “the worst question ever asked” at Prime Minister Questions.

As well as the large feedback to the above tweet containing a clip, many tweeted their thoughts to Dr Davies direct, a direct link to such tweets can be found here.
