A man has died following a serious collision near Ruthin yesterday evening, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called shortly after 4pm to a report of a one-vehicle collision on the A494 involving a motorbike.

Despite the best efforts from members of the public and police officers carrying out CPR, sadly the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Raymond Williams of the Roads Policing Unit and who is leading the investigation said: “We are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which happened at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon, 12th August on the A494 near Pentre Smithy, about half a mile from Ruthin towards Mold, which involved a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle.

“If anyone travelling between Ruthin and the scene can recall seeing a similar motorcycle or has any dash-cam footage, I would be grateful if they contact us on 101 or via the live web chat quoting reference number 20000482100.”

The 28 year old motorcyclist was from the Merseyside area, however North Wales Police said they are not in a position to release further details at this time.
