More people have been turned away from Snowdonia by police after travelling from the likes of London and Milton Keynes.

When challenged by officers, some of the individuals said they had come to “walk their dogs and enjoy the snow.”

The current alert level 4 restrictions to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Wales mean only essential travel is allowed.

The region’s police force said people from North Wales had also been caught breaking the rules.

North Wales Police said: “Remember, exercise should start and finish from your home (though those with specific health and mobility issues may need to travel – details via link).

“Snowdon, other mountains and beauty spots will still be there for everyone to enjoy once it is safe to do so.

“Please listen to what is being asked of you – we are in the midst of a global health pandemic.

“The longer people ignore these restrictions and think they do not apply to them, the longer we will be in lockdown.”
