A man has been jailed for 21 months after a Boxing Day knife attack in a village on Anglesey.

John Michael Rushton assaulted another man on the High Street in Brynsiencyn in the early hours incident at the end of 2019.

The victim suffered a deep wound to his left hand whilst trying to defend himself.

The 29-year-old assailant, who lives in the local area, has now been sent to prison for the attack after being found guilty of wounding at Caernarfon Court.

He was also given a restraining order for ten years.

Speaking after the sentencing hearing, Detective Constable Les Ellis said: “Knife crime is a serious offence.

“Thankfully, it is a relatively rare occurrence locally, however I would like to reassure the community that we will relentlessly pursue those who pose a danger to society.”
