Man dies following house fire near Corwen as emergency services investigate cause

A man has died following a house fire near Corwen.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of a fire at a property at Penrhos, Brynegwlys at around 9pm last night.

The body of a man believed to be in his 60s was found inside the house by firefighters.

The cause of the fire will be the subject of a joint investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.

Two fire engines from Wrexham, one from Corwen and an aerial ladder platform from Wrexham were sent to the incident. Crews used four sets of breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

A relief fire crew from Ruthin remained at the scene this morning attending to hotspots.
