Man dies after crash which led to closure of A55 near Britannia Bridge

A man has sadly died following a crash on the A55 on Anglesey this morning. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Emergency services were called to a section of the eastbound carriageway near Britannia Bridge shortly after 3.10am, where a man was pronounced dead at the scene. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Police have confirmed the man’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

The A55 was closed whilst officers worked to investigate the scene and arrange recovery. The road was reopened at 12pm. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Chief Inspector Jason Davies said: “We can confirm that the A55 was closed this morning due to a fatal road collision. Our deepest condolences remain with the man’s family at this difficult time. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

“We are grateful for the understanding of the public who may have been delayed by the traffic this morning. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

“This incident is now being investigated and I am appealing to anyone who may have been travelling along the A55 eastbound near to Britannia Bridge prior to the collision and who may have seen or have dashcam footage of a grey BMW 3 Series, to contact us.” ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​
