Man dies after crash which led to closure of A55 near Britannia Bridge

A man has sadly died following a crash on the A55 on Anglesey this morning.

Emergency services were called to a section of the eastbound carriageway near Britannia Bridge shortly after 3.10am, where a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed the man’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

The A55 was closed whilst officers worked to investigate the scene and arrange recovery. The road was reopened at 12pm.

Chief Inspector Jason Davies said: “We can confirm that the A55 was closed this morning due to a fatal road collision. Our deepest condolences remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.

“We are grateful for the understanding of the public who may have been delayed by the traffic this morning.

“This incident is now being investigated and I am appealing to anyone who may have been travelling along the A55 eastbound near to Britannia Bridge prior to the collision and who may have seen or have dashcam footage of a grey BMW 3 Series, to contact us.”
