Kinmel Bay man jailed for drugs offences has assets confiscated

A Kinmel Bay man jailed for drug supply offences has had over £5,000 of his criminal gains seized.

Gareth Hastie, 45, of no fixed abode, is currently serving a six year and four-month prison sentence after being jailed in February for possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

On Wednesday a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing at Mold Crown Court heard funds amounting to £5100 that were seized by officers investigating his crimes were ordered to be forfeited.

The force estimated the full value of his crimes to be more than £94,000.

Containers with cocaine and white block, rock and powder substances, three sets of scales and a mobile phone were also ordered to be destroyed under Section 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

Speaking after sentencing in February, Detective Inspector Kris Williams from the Central Priority Crime Team said: “The seizure of almost half a kilogram of this class A drug represents a significant disruption to the supply chain. Drug-dealing brings exploitation, violence and misery to our neighbourhoods.

“We will pursue those who seek to profit from such criminality and will use all the tools at our disposal to strip criminals of any assets they have acquired as a result of their activities.”
