Colwyn Bay opticians launches month-long fundraiser for local children’s charities

A Colwyn Bay opticians is donating £1 for every pair of glasses sold this August to support two local children’s charities.

Organised by Specsavers Colwyn Bay, the month-long fundraiser will see customers collecting their new glasses choose which charity receives their support by placing a token into their preferred charity box – either North Wales Superkids or The Little Princess Trust.

North Wales Superkids supports disadvantaged children and young people across the region, while The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to children and young people experiencing hair loss.

Andy Deeley, optician director at Specsavers Colwyn Bay said: “As a locally owned and run business, supporting charities that help local families is really important to us.

“We’re delighted to be supporting two fantastic organisations and giving our customers the opportunity to choose which cause they would like to support.

“We’d love to see as many people as possible get involved and help us make a difference to children and young people across North Wales.”

Specsavers Colwyn Bay’s team member, Tara Owen (pictured) will also support The Little Princess Trust by cutting and donating 14 inches of her hair to the charity.

The special haircut will take place at the end of August and will be carried out by a local hairdresser.

Tara Owen added: “Growing my hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m really excited to finally be able to make that donation.

“It’s a brilliant feeling knowing that my donation will help a young person at such a difficult time.”
