Holyhead man jailed after shooting neighbour with airgun
A 41-year-old man who shot an airgun at another man in Holyhead has been jailed.
Tom Webster, of Victoria Terrace, Holyhead, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday 11 September where he admitted to wounding causing physical harm during an incident on 1 January 2023.
Webster was on Victoria Terrace during the evening of 1 January 2023 when he shot his neighbour in the face with an airgun.
He then attempted to bite the victim’s ear and shot him again in the chest causing him to later need surgery.
Webster was arrested later that same evening.
He was jailed for 12 months and was also made subject of a restraining order to protect the victim lasting five years.
Detective Constable Cara Williams said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a man who was simply walking his dog in his local area.
“The incident has undoubtedly had a lasting impact on the victim’s feeling of safety, and I hope that this result provides some reassurance to him.
“Webster has proved himself to be a dangerous individual. His behaviour is completely unacceptable and acts of violence such as this will not be tolerated.
“Incidents of this nature are rare in Anglesey, but I would urge anyone with information about individuals carrying weapons to contact police or Crimestoppers anonymously.”
