A Gwynedd burglar has been brought to justice after being caught in the act on a doorbell camera.

Daniel Dafydd, 32, from Penrhyndeudraeth, committed the offences during the early hours of October 24th last year in Porthmadog.

He was sentenced to an 18-month community order, a three-month curfew and ordered to pay £305 in costs and compensation on Monday after pleading guilty to four counts of burglary at Caernarfon Crown Court.

North Wales Police have hailed the use of video technology in aiding the force’s investigation.

Speaking after sentencing, Sergeant Matt Halstead said: “Burglaries can have a significant impact on victims and ruin people’s lives, leaving them feeling very vulnerable.

“North Wales Police is committed to pursuing those who cause any threats, risks and harm to our communities.

“This case clearly shows how technology can fight crime and help bring those responsible to justice.”
