Further details have been revealed regarding a boat crash in Conwy which saw a crew member airlifted to hospital.

The Llandudno Coastguard and local lifeboat teams were called at 6.30pm yesterday evening to reports that a vessel had collided into the Beacons Jetty.

It caused one of the crew members to be thrown overboard, crushing him between the boat and the pontoon.

Care was immediately provided while rescuers awaited the arrival of an ambulance.

A search and rescue helicopter was then requested due to the severity of the injury.

The team said: “We identified a potential landing site a short distance away at Conwy Golf Club and, after assessing its suitability, we were able to establish it as a landing site.

“The casualty was taken to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool to receive further treatment.

“The vessel was made secure by the lifeboat crews and we were no longer required so were stood down and returned to station.”
