A drunk lorry driver has been banned from driving for more than two years after being spotted “weaving all over the road” on the A55 near Rhuallt Hill.

Police were called on Sunday afternoon after receiving several reports from members of the public expressing concerns over how the 48-year-old was driving his vehicle after it was also seen in Mochdre, near Colwyn Bay.

Two officers went to search for the HGV and the driver was stopped near the Britannia Bridge, where he failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

He has since appeared in court, where he was disqualified from driving for 28 months.

He was also fined £240, ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Officers from North Wales Police’s roads policing unit said: “If you have information regarding anybody you think may be driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs please report it to us.”
