A dog walker and his pet had to be rescued after getting caught out by the rising tide on Anglesey.

Coastguard rescuers were called to the Afon Crigyll in Rhosneigr earlier today with pictures shared on Facebook showing the man stuck on a bridge and surrounded by water.

After putting on their protective gear, members of the Rhosneigr and Holyhead Coastguard Rescue Teams found the water was shallow enough to wade across and help the man and his dog to safety.

The rescuers said: “Rhosneigr Coastguard Rescue Team (was) tasked along with Holyhead Coastguard Rescue Team to Afon Crigyll in Rhosneigr, to the aid of a male dog walker who was completely surrounded and trapped by the high tide,

“Upon arrival on scene and having assessed the situation, team members kitted out in PPE, and as the water level wasn’t really that deep, a team member was able to safely wade across the water and walk him and his dog back across where he was assessed by the team. Both were fine and happily continued their walk.

“Remember if you, or if you should see anyone in danger around our coastline then please call 999 and ask for the coastguards.”
