Plans submitted to demolish Rhyl property for future development

A local building firm has formally submitted plans to demolish a property in Rhyl to pave the way for future redevelopment.

Thorncliffe Building Supplies Ltd has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department for prior notification to demolish Phoenix Lodge on Station Road.

According to application documents submitted on behalf of the applicant, Mr T Harper, the building is deemed “not suitable for habitation”.

The developer intends to clear the site through a process of “controlled dismantling”.

If approved, work on the Station Road site is expected to begin on 1 October 2026, with demolition scheduled for completion by 1 November 2026.

The applicant noted that rubble and spoil from the site will be transferred to a recycling facility, with no trees set to be felled or pruned as part of the works.

The plans are likely to be discussed at a future Denbighshire County Council planning committee meeting at the authority’s Ruthin County Hall HQ.
