Cyclists asked to say ‘oui’ to 311-mile charity challenge for charity

Cyclists are being asked to say ‘oui’ to a special fundraising challenge in aid of Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices.

The charity has partnered with Global Adventure Challenges to host its own ‘Tour de France’ to give cyclists the chance to ride between London and Paris for a worthy cause.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tackle the 311-mile route will take place in July 2027, with early bird entry available from £99.

Cyclists will start their journey amidst the iconic London skyline before finishing on the world-famous Champs-Élysées in Paris just days before the Tour de France, giving riders a unique experience and the chance to feel like a champion.

Lee Eyes, from Flintshire, has already signed up for next summer’s fundraiser and said he is looking forward to the challenge.

“I’ve given lots of time volunteering with the hospices,” explained Lee, 56.

“But I wanted to give more than time and try to raise some money. I have seen what many of the children and families go through and how hard the nurses and fundraisers work to support them.”

Lee, who has already completed several 100-mile cycling events, said he is already training for next summer’s fundraiser before taking a winter break.

He said: “I’ve been going to the gym every week and doing spinning classes.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the French countryside and it will be great to ride with my friend Pete Arnold who has also signed up for the challenge.”

Speaking about the event, Hope House Tŷ Gobaith’s fundraising manager, Andy Everley said: “This is a classic ride that takes entrants through beautiful countryside and historically important sights.

“It’s fully guided by experts, with all accommodation and catering provided as well as a trip up the Eiffel Tower. Plus, we have the reassurance of a travelling cycle mechanic too.

“What a great way to start your next sporting summer whilst having the focus of raising funds to support local children across North Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire who are living with a life-threatening condition.
