New Padel Tennis Centre planned for Conwy could be backed by councillors
A new Padel Tennis Centre planned for Conwy could be backed this week.
A planning application submitted by Zak Hughes of Padel World UK Ltd will be discussed by Conwy County Council’s planning committee.
Mr Hughes wants to convert the light industrial unit at Parc Menter Tre Morfa Enterprise Park at Parc Cae’r Seion to a padel tennis Centre.
The plans include a cafe, bar, and padel tennis accessory shop.
According to the planning application, the proposal “represents a significant private sector investment in the site and the local economy”.
The report states: “The applicant anticipates upfront capital costs of approximately £500,000, covering court construction and installation, specialist surfacing, lighting, changing room provision, basic café/bar fit-out and initial padel equipment.”
Planning officers are advising the committee to back the plans.
Described as a hybrid of tennis and squash, padel tennis has grown in popularity in the last few years.
According to the planning application, if granted permission, the centre would have 12 full-time employees.
The proposed opening hours are 6am-10pm seven days a week, including bank holidays.
The planning application will likely be discussed at Conwy County Council’s planning committee meeting on Wednesday 14 October at the authority’s Coed Pella HQ in Colwyn Bay.
