Llanrwst anti-social linked flats to be demolished
Plans to demolish flats associated with anti-social behaviour are set to get the green light next week.
The Glanrafon flats in Llanrwst have been landed with a “poor reputation” according to the applicant Cartrefi Conwy.
The housing association has said the apartments are in a poor state of repair and is seeking planning permission to replace the 30 flat complex with 14 affordable semi-detached and terraced homes.
The scheme also proposes replacing the existing equipped play space with a natural play space using the whole site area, with a number of items of fixed equipment integrated into the space.
With the replacement development made up of a mixture of 10 three-bedroom (five person) dwellings and four four-bedroom (six person) dwellings, all of the new homes would be affordable social housing for the area.
Planning officers have recommended that councillors vote in favour of granting planning permission.
A report to members of the planning committee concluded: “The proposed development would replace the existing inadequate and substandard
apartments with 14 affordable dwellings. Officers consider that subject to the outstanding consultations and satisfactory resolution of highways matters, the application can be supported and the development complies with relevant Local Development Plan policies.”
Councillors on the planning committee will vote on the plans when they meet on Wednesday at Bodlondeb.
