Conwy County Council to Review Contract for Llandudno Special School Extension

Latest North Wales breaking news, sport, what's on and business news

Conwy County Council’s cabinet will discuss agreeing a contract to extend a Llandudno special school.
Members are set to meet next week to debate a project approval for construction works at Ysgol y Gogarth on Nant y Gamar Road in Craig y Don.
The project involves a permanent extension to replace the school’s existing temporary accommodation building.
The council says the development will deliver purpose-built specialist classrooms, appropriate therapeutic and support facilities, enhanced accessibility, and “circulation arrangements”.
The plans also include an upgraded dining area to accommodate increased pupil numbers.
In December 2024, a planning committee granted plans for the dining room despite two letters of objection fearing the extension could be “impinging” on a green wedge area.
But councillors at the committee heard this would be by just one metre.
The council says the scheme is part of the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme.
The plans are set to be discussed at the cabinet meeting at Conwy County Council’s Coed Pella HQ in Colwyn Bay on Tuesday, August 11.
But the press and public will be excluded from the meeting due to regulations stating that sensitive information relating to the financial or business affairs of a third-party could be revealed.
