Denbighshire County Council has provided an update on the situation with schools and Covid-19.

It has confirmed that 49 pupils, seven pre-school pupils and nine members of staff at Bodnant Community School and Daisy Chains, Prestatyn will be required to self-isolate following a confirmed coronavirus case associated with the school.

The school is set to remain open and parents and guardians have been informed, with Public Health Wales also consulted.

The council has also been working with NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect to ensure appropriate measures are in place to protect pupils, staff and the wider community.

Parents/guardians have been advised to remain alert for the main symptoms of coronavirus:

  • A new or continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • A loss of or change to sense of smell or taste

Those advised to self-isolate should book a coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild. A test can be booked by phoning 119 or online.

Advice requires those self-isolating to stay at home and not go outdoors to exercise, visit shops, family or friends, and other public spaces. They are also advised not invite people to their house.
