Body found after vehicle explodes on A498 in Gwynedd

A body has been found after police were called to a vehicle which exploded on a road in Gwynedd.

Officers attended after reports of a loud explosion and vehicle on fire on the A498 near Nant Gwynant at 1.57pm on Tuesday.

Sadly, a body, which yet to be identified, was discovered in the driver’s seat.

North Wales Police said: “We are working closely with the Coroner and the Home Office Pathologist in order to confirm identification of the victim and circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the explosion, or the vehicle at the location prior to the incident to contact us via our live webchat online or on 101 quoting reference Z160711.”
