A lifeboat team was called to assist 30 people stuck on a sandbank in Gwynedd as the tide was coming in.

The Barmouth RNLI crew received a report at 4.22pm this afternoon to a large group cut off by the water opposite their station.

With the assistance of the volunteers, they were able to make their way back to shore.

Coxswain Rob Williams said: “Safety advice was offered to approximately 30 members of the public, some heading out to ‘the perch’ on an incoming tide.”

The lifeboat team returned back to base around an hour later ready to deal with any further calls.
