Boutique hotel plan for Rhosneigr

Plans for a high end ’boutique’ hotel have been unveiled in one of Anglesey’s most popular resort villages.

Council planners have received an application to demolish two residential flats to make way for the proposed ten bedroom hotel on Rhosneigr’s High Street.

Situated next door to the existing village hall, developers are promising a high end facility including a sauna and steam room.

“The proposal would provide new high-quality serviced accommodation that would add to the choice of tourist accommodation and bring local employment opportunities and economic benefits to the area,” note the supporting documents.

As well as the ten rooms of varying sizes and another two open-market residential flats, the proposals also include a restaurant and kitchen, water sports facility for guests including wetsuit storage and a changing room and showers with steam room and sauna.

Planning to provide a total of 14 parking spaces to the rear, the applicants say that it would “make a significant economic and community contribution to the locality.”

According to the designers, the brief was to create “a bespoke space for this seaside resort, where people can retreat after a day of outdoor or water-based activities in and around the village.”

The supporting statements went on to note, “The proposal seeks to rejuvenate a site that has a building falling into disrepair and this can only be seen as a positive contribution towards the village.
“The proposal will establish a new and attractive active frontage on High Street, whilst maintaining the theme of a glazed frontage along the ground floor street level.
“We believe that the scheme will enhance the area, streetscape and will have a positive impact on Rhosneigr.”
Its expected that Anglesey Council’s planning department will consider the application pending consultation with statutory bodies including the community council, with a decision expected over the coming months.
