A former bank is to be given a new lease of life as residential flats.
Amlwch’s HSBC branch shut its doors in 2016 despite opposition, with a petition signed by hundreds of people calling on the banking giant to retain the site.
HSBC blamed the closure on a fall in the number of customers visiting the branch.
Now the building will be brought back to life by being converted into six self-contained flats after planning permission was approved by Anglesey Council’s planning department.
According to the application, submitted by Ken Williams of Llanfechell, the exterior will remain largely intact with only the windows being replaced.
The statement accompanying the application, says the plans will ensure sustained use of the building and increase its energy efficiency.
“Scaffolding or an access lift may be needed to repaint the gables above the red brickwork”, it said.
Anglesey Council’s planning department approved the application without the need for it to go before councillors.
