Work has started on the construction of a new 1,000-seater stand at the home of Colwyn Bay FC.

During the last week, two existing covered terraced stands at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena, which were built in the late 1980s, were dismantled.

Plans for a new stand were approved by Conwy’s Council’s planning committee in October in a bid to take the ground’s capacity up to 1,850.

A club spokesperson said: “Weather permitting, the work is expected to be a 16 to 18-week period of build.

“Work on the car parking area at the rear of the ground, which will have space for up to 200 vehicles, is also underway.

“Over the coming months the ground’s landscape will be changing and that means for safety reasons fans are asked to stay away from that part of the ground on matchdays as construction work continues.”
