Two men are due up in court after being arrested in connection with what police described as “a mindless spree of slashing tyres”.

The pair were picked up by officers after cars were targeted in Llanrwst during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Both 33-year-old Timothy Eccles and 39-year-old Paul Malpass, who are from the town, have today been charged with multiple offences of causing criminal damage to vehicles.

They have been remanded in custody to appear before Mold Magistrates tomorrow.

District Inspector Andrew Kirkham said: “This was a blatant attack on the entire community at a time when people have been hit hard financially.

“Some of the car owners were critical workers needing transport to get to work, people with mobility issues or people who have been made unemployed in difficult times – this was the last thing they needed.”

“I am grateful for the information provided by the public and the swift response of officers, which resulted in the arrests of the two men.”
