Police have issued a warning about the dangers of trespassing after a child was injured after falling from a derelict school in Bangor.

Earlier this month, a trespasser climbed onto an unstable roof light of the former Ysgol Cae Top on Hill Street and fell three metres to the ground.

Advice has now been issued ahead of schools closing for the summer – and concerns surrounding children and young people trespassing at disused sites.

PC Michael Sambrook said: “Thankfully the child did not sustain any serious injuries, but it comes as a warning to others not to trespass – particularly at unsafe and dangerous locations such as this one.

“We will be speaking to local school children about the dangers of trespassing and educating children on the dangers – but we also need care-givers help to really get that message across – especially in the lead up to the school holidays.”

Anyone who witnesses trespassers at the derelict Ysgol Cae Top site is urged to make contact with the force.
