Three people die after ‘collision’ incident in Beaumaris

A major emergency service response has taken place in Beaumaris this afternoon, after three people died following a ‘collision’.

Police have said, “Shortly after 2.45pm today officers responded to reports of a road traffic collision in Beaumaris, Anglesey. The incident occurred on Alma Street, close to Beaumaris Pier.

“Officers attended along with fire, ambulance and air ambulance crews.

“Sadly, three people were pronounced deceased at the scene. Our efforts to establish the full circumstances of this incident remain ongoing.

“We continue to appeal to people to avoid the area of the High Street, which is expected to be closed for some time.

Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst said: “Sadly, we can confirm that three people have been fatally injured in the incident.
“We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident that hasn’t already spoken to officers, or anybody who might have dashcam footage, to please get in touch.

The Welsh Ambulance service said, “We were called today (28 August) shortly before 2:45pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Alma Street, Beaumaris. We sent two emergency ambulances, one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit paramedic, one advanced paramedic practitioner, one duty operational manager and one locality manager to the scene.

“We were supported by pre-hospital immediate care specialists from North Wales Emergency Doctors Service and advanced critical care support was delivered by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service in a Wales Air Ambulance charity helicopter.” Police will be your source for more information.

A road has been closed as emergency services deal with an incident near a pier on Anglesey.

North Wales Police said in a Facebook post this afternoon that they are attending, along with other emergency services.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 2.56pm and have three crews at the scene.

While no details have been provided on the nature of the incident, people are being urged to avoid the area.

The post on the force’s main Facebook account states: “We are currently dealing with an incident in Beaumaris in the area of the pier.

“Multiple emergency services are in attendance and a road closure is in place.

“We are asking people to avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible.”

The island’s MS Rhun ap Iorwerth has also released a statement regarding the situation.

He said: “I’ve contacted North Wales Police to request further information on the situation.

“In the meantime, I encourage everyone to follow the advice below.”
