Mrs Justice Jefford has today delivered sentences to the four men found guilty in the Gerald Corrigan murder trial.

Speaking outside Mold Crown Court, Detective Chief Inspector Brian Kearney said: \”We have heard today in detail the impact that Gerald’s murder has had on his loving family.

Marie Bailey today in her victim personal statement described the exceptional person that Gerald Corrigan was and the devastating effect his murder has had on her, namely a ‘living hell’.

Neale, Gerald’s son, recalled the hope he had when his father regained consciousness only to be told three days later that Gerald had only hours to live.

Fiona, Gerald’s daughter, recalled the agony of watching her critically ill father in hospital ‘just waiting for any noise that it might be a doctor asking us to come and say our goodbyes’

Gerald was an innocent victim of a barbaric murder.

We welcome the sentences handed down today.

This was a complex murder investigation supported by numerous experts and professionals and a very dedicated investigation team.

I wish to reiterate my thanks to our community of local people, tourists and businesses who came forward and gave us the evidence to secure these convictions. In an modern era, we solve crimes together with you.

With your help, in partnership with our brilliant local Crown Prosecution Service and other partners, we will continue to keep North Wales one of the safest places in the United Kingdom.\”
