Storm Eunice: Live updates as strong winds hit North Wales
Strong winds are expected to hit North Wales this afternoon as Storm Eunice arrives in the area.
After a quiet start to the morning, inland gusts in the 60-70mph range could hit some places during the afternoon and into the evening.
Around coastal areas of western Wales, the Met Office says winds of 80-90mph are possible with an amber weather warning in place.
All rail services in North Wales are suspended, schools are shut and members of the public are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

5:42PM Final Update With ‘Eunice’ having passed over the area we will finish our live updates. An ‘Amber’ warning for wind is still in place until 9pm in what will be a gusty cold evening.
5:30PM The First Minister has said the worst has passed, in a short statement Mark Drakeford said: “The worst of Storm Eunice has passed, but there’s still an Amber Warning in force until 9pm. Significant disruption continues and many homes have no power. Please take care, avoid travel if you can, stay away from the coast and check in on vulnerable neighbours. Diolch pawb.”
5:15 PM Rhyl RNLI have said, “The worst of Storm Eunice now seems to have passed the North Wales area. Earlier today our weather station measured maximum windspeeds up to 64knts (73.64mph). More bad weather is forecast for the weekend. Please continue to follow safety advice.”
4.51pm A reminder from North Wales Police that the amber weather alert for the region remains in place for a few hours more yet.

4.21pm It would appear most parts of North Wales have missed the worst of Storm Eunice so far despite some high wind speeds being recorded. People are still being advised to take precautions though.

3.35pm Weatherman Derek Brockway has provided the latest forecast details.
Coastal areas, especially in the south and west have borne the brunt of #StormEunice today. Wind gusts 80 to 92mph. Inland gusts generally 60 to 70mph.

2:50PM Public asked to avoid Ffordd Dyfed in Tywyn – high winds have caused damage to roofs of flats. The polce, fire service and Gwynedd council are on site.

2:37PM North East Wales Search and Rescue team have posted an update, noting NEWSAR team members are out at St Asaph today, “Ready to deploy to potential flooding events alongside North Wales Fire and Rescue Service”. You can see their rescue rafts on the top of the Landrovers.
2:30 PM On Anglesey the council say high tides are causing some flooding problems on the following roads: A4080 Rhosneigr loop road and B5109 Llangoed to Beaumaris road
2:20PM In more serious transport news Arriva buses operating from Rhyl have stopped running this afternoon and have returned to the depot. The services affected are the number 12 to Llandudno, 51 to Denbigh, X51 to Ruthin and Wrexham, the 35 and 36 circulars and the 83 and 84 local Rhyl buses
