Police have used drone technology to help them catch a man who was driving a stolen car in Prestatyn.

Officers were called shortly after 5pm yesterday to a report that a Ford Kuga, which had been stolen from the Manchester area earlier that day, was seen in the Denbighshire town.

Upon their attendance, the driver decided he didn’t want to hang around and the car was found abandoned outside the entrance to a caravan park shortly after.

The man was quickly found with the help of officers from North Wales Police’s drone team.

The force said: “We arrested the 39-year-old on suspicion of unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and turns out he was wanted by our GMP colleagues for drug and firearm offences. Busted.

“Huge thanks also to members of the community in Prestatyn who directed us to where the car had gone and also a big thanks to the caravan park staff for their assistance. Diolch yn fawr iawn.”

The man has since been handed over to Greater Manchester Police to be dealt with for the offences.
