Police have begun a week of action in Rhyl in response to youths causing trouble in the town.

Extra patrols have been put on following issues with groups of youths carrying knives, causing anti-social behaviour and being involved in public order offences.

Problem areas include the White Rose Shopping Centre, the town’s branch of McDonald’s, the bus and train stations and the arcades.

The youths’ behaviour has also caused Denbighshire Council to close an underground car park.

North Wales Police said: “There is a public space protection order in place in the town centre where anyone causing antisocial behaviour and/or drinking alcohol can be banned for up to 48 hours.

“If any of this behaviour is witnessed please call 101, or otherwise 999 in an emergency.”
