Police have secured a 48-hour closure notice on a property in Rhyl after residents became victims of “cuckooing”.

Cuckooing is a term used to describe organised gangs targeting vulnerable people by taking over their property to use as a base for drug dealing.

Officers said the address which is subject to the order is located in the west area of the town.

They said: “If you suspect anyone is a victim of cuckooing please let us know.”

According to the Crimestoppers charity, signs that cuckooing may be going on at a property include:

  • An increase in people entering and leaving
  • An increase in cars or bikes outside
  • Possible increase in anti-social behaviour
  • Increasing litter outside
  • Signs of drugs use
  • Lack of healthcare visitors
